For those who did not read our previous comments on the Coronado V2 here is what we said….

In our small group here, there are actually a couple of pairs in play and I personally still have the V1 as part of my shoe lineup and would lean heavily replacing them with the V2 when it is time.

What you are getting first off is an extremely comfortable shoe. I have no complaints with the original version and Callaway has taken it a level further. But where we see the shoe excelling is the grip and support offered from the 9 spike TPU Fusion-Lite™ outsole. When you are playing in less-than-optimal conditions is where you will appreciate the Coronado V2 the most.  You are able to swing with confidence knowing your shoes will remain locked in and in balance. 

The microfiber leather upper keeps the water out and your feet dry in very wet conditions so you are spending less time thinking about your feet and more time focusing on the golf ahead.

There are three color options with a little more flare than the original and with sizes from 8-14 in both a regular and wide fit most golfers will find their size. For a shoe with the quality and features of the Coronado V2 the retail price is significantly less than some of our other top shoes making Callaway’s entry a very attractive option for those looking to save a few dollars and still get their feet in a top end shoe.

In previous articles we have already mentioned that adidas is just doing it right with regards to their golf shoe lineup in recent years and their entry, the Adidas ZG21 BOA, for the best golf shoes for rain is no different. 

The Waterproof Sprintskin synthetic upper is a lightweight four-layered innovative construction. It combines layers of textiles and polyurethane films to provide optimal resistance from moisture keeping the inner layers dry so your feet remain comfortable.

When you combine a lightweight Sprintskin upper with an Ultra-light Stability Fin for increased lateral stability and an Ultra-thin TPU outsole to optimize grip you end up with extremely light shoe packed with performance. Quantitively the ZG21 BOA is approximately 20% lighter than their similar previous models and when walking for soggy wet fairways being light on your feet is highly desirable.

We felt the biggest drawback for the ZG21 keeping it from taking our top spot was the fact that is currently is only available in a regular size version which may be problematic for some of us wide feet golfers and the price is retailed somewhat higher than the Coronado V2. They are far from a narrow shoe so a half size up may make all the difference for many. 

There is a lot of fanfare backing this shoe from tour players and regular golfers alike and we could not find anything that would be to the contrary and this is why the ZG21 BOA has made it to our runner up for best golf shoes for rain rankings.

The Puma Ignite PWRADAPT caged golf shoe is next up on our best golf shoes for rain rankings. It is a mouthful to say but it is a great shoe from a brand that may not be as popular as some of the other names in golf footwear.

This shoe has been designed with support and grip in mind. The PWRCAGE saddle is essentially a mini boot within the shoe that tightens the “cage” as you lace and tighten up. This external layer provides maximum support while inner layered Adaptive Fit System conforms to the contours of your foot extremely well. When we gave them a try, I was surprised how little friction and wear my foot felt despite not having broken the shoes in before.

When you add in the lightweight materials used for construction of the Ignite PWRADAPT you are left with a shoe that feels like it is almost an interrelated part of your foot. This high degree of support is critical in keeping your foot stable. Then the GripZone Traction and Tornado cleats do the rest of the work. They have created a bottom of the shoe that really digs in when needed allowing you to be able to swing freely and transition the power through your swing. You are able to keep focus on what is going on infront of you and not worry about your footwork.

The Ignite PWRADAPT is a little lighter of a shoe than some of our other entries and while they do come with a 1-year waterproof warrantee it would not be my choice for a winter golf shoe or in a monsoon but they more than do the job and keep your feet dry and warm in summer shower weather. We believe that for many golfers out there you are not looking to invest a lot of money in a golf shoes that will be used to walk through the mud and there is a very good argument for it. Many of my golf group have a pair of golf shoes that are just meant to get out there and get the job done. 

They will keep your feet dry and you standing upright. Are they the shoes that have the most bells and whistles? NO…. the most tech? NO…. but considering they may be approximately 30% of the cost of a premium golf shoe they more deliver a price quality ratio that is worth it and more. 

Available in regular and extra wide options there will be a pair that work on your feet so if you are looking for a decent golf shoe to muck up and get the job done at the same time we suggest you give the Sketchers GO GOLF Torque a look, they may just surprise you.
